Old place of rest and overnight stay for travelers of the Royal Road, it served in more recent times, to collect animals. The south elevation of the dwelling abuts the Camino de Santiago, a place of passage of pilgrims and travelers. During the farm property, the spaces of the house have been known by the ancient occupants names: Estrela, Carriça, Nova, Preta e Andorinha. Later suites came to be known as“ quarto das Laranjeiras”, quarto do Caminho de Santiago e quarto do Lagar”, depending on their proximity to each of those references. The use of the old mill helped to provide the house with a functional and nice dining space.
